Amelia Hamlet (b. 2001), is a british contemporary artist whose practice explores memory, dreaming, and perception through still life and flowers. working intuitively with colour and gesture, she creates paintings that inhabit the space between observation and imagination, where familiar forms dissolve into emotional floral landscapes.

alongside her painting practice, Amelia produces a collection of illustrated prints and editions that celebrate everyday rituals, quiet moments, and the joy found in ordinary life.

artist statement

working primarily with still life, Amelia uses flowers as both subject and metaphor. growing up surrounded by flowers and art has deeply influenced the way she interprets the world. Through vivid colour, intuitive mark-making, and dreamlike compositions, she transforms familiar floral forms into spaces where memory, emotion, and imagination speak together.

Painting has long been Amelia's way of understanding experiences, using colour, texture, and gesture as an emotional vocabulary. the process is one of translation, giving form to feelings, thoughts, and fleeting impressions that are often difficult to articulate. ultimately, each canvas is an extension of herself.

recent works explore dreaming, fantasy, and the uncertain space between reality and imagination. floral forms emerge and dissolve across the canvas, reflecting the shifting nature of memory and perception. rather than offering fixed narratives, the paintings embrace ambiguity, inviting viewers to question what is remembered, imagined, or real, and to linger in the quiet space between them.
